Itinerary

Day 1: Mount Falcon Castle, Ballina, County Mayo

Arrive in Ireland this morning for a 3-night stay at the beautiful Mount Falcon Castle in County Mayo. This luxury property is located on the west bank of the River Moy, on 100 acres of magical woodlands. You may want to take advantage of the Elemis Spa to relax and rejuvenate after your travels, or simply walk the estate to inhale some of our good clean Irish air! Included with your stay is complimentary fishing on the estate Trout Lake and a free bucket of balls per person if you want to hit the Driving Range!

Day 2: Take a drive to County Sligo & Visit Yeats Country

Together with Sligo, parts of Leitrim and Roscommon this area is known as “Yeats’ Country” in memory of poet laureate William Butler Yeats and his artist brother, Jack B. Yeats, both of whom drew inspiration for their work from this area. Visit Carrowmore Megalithic Cemetery, and learn about megalithic tombs and passage graves. You will feel the spirit of the place as you walk among the ancient ruins and enjoy this site high on a hillside with spectacular views.

Day 3: Enjoy a day touring Mayo & visit Westport

Westport is a popular lively & picturesque town with Georgian architecture, great restaurants and traditional music pubs. Climb Croagh Patrick or perhaps visit Achill Island. You can be as active as you like – enjoy hiking, fishing, golfing and horse-back riding, or just relax with a coffee or a pint and view the spectacular mountains, cliffs and the Blue Flag Beaches.

Day 4: Beech Hill Country House, Derry

Explore Irelands North West Coast. Donegal is the second largest county in Ireland and is perhaps the most spectacular. It has everything going for it, an amazing coastline, mountains with wonderful valleys, and a rugged and truly picturesque landscape. You will have the opportunity to visit some wonderful ancient sites like the Beltony Stone Circle. There are incredible scenic drives in Donegal and these include Slieve League Cliffs, (the highest sea cliffs in Europe) Glencolumbcille, Glensesk Pass and more. Enjoy the wonderful towns and villages to be seen, some famous for their tweeds and woolens. You will make friends here, the people are said to be the nicest in the country! Make your way to Derry and settle into the Beech Hill Country House for 2 nights. Georgian splendor and gracious country living welcome you to this elegant and stately home nestled in the wooded countryside just 2 miles from Derry City. Complimentary upgrade to a superior room if available.

Day 5: Explore Historic Derry City & Guided Walking Tour

Explore Derry City with an award winning tour guide.  See the ancient City Walls, Ireland’s earliest example of town planning. Completed in 1619, they are the only city walls to survive almost intact. Visit the Peoples Gallery, the name given to the 12 murals that decorate the houses along Rossville St. Other sites include the Bloody Sunday Memorial and St. Columbus Cathedral, Derry’s oldest surviving building.

Day 6: Giants’ Causeway, Bushmills & Cabra Castle

Before heading south to Cavan, drive to the north- east shore to discover the Giants Causeway, a UNESCO world heritage site and one of the great natural wonders of Europe. Visit Old Bushmills Distillery (Irish Whiskey) and the ruins of Dunluce Castle, perched 100 feet above the ocean on a pinnacle of basalt rock. When you arrive at Cabra Castle for your 2 night stay, take time to explore. Wander through the magnificent reception rooms or find a quiet fireside corner to enjoy the castle atmosphere. Period features and furnishings create an authentic, old-world charm and a long tradition of warm and friendly service make Cabra Castle the perfect retreat from the pace of modern living.

Day 7: Discover Belfast

Today is your day to discover Belfast! And it wouldn’t be complete without “The Titanic Experience” right beside the historic site of this world-famous ship’s construction. Housed in an iconic, 6-floor building, this state-of-the-art visitor experience tells the story of the Titanic, from her conception in Belfast in the early 1900s, through her construction and launch, to her famous maiden voyage and tragic end.

Day 8: Depart Ireland or Extend Your Stay!

After breakfast this morning you will prepare for your flight home OR take advantage of one or more optional extensions below.
