Itinerary

Oct 01: Depart New York on your overnight flight to Edinburgh, Scotland!

 

Oct 02: Arrive Edinburgh. Stay 2-nights in the City Center.

Arrive in Edinburgh Airport after your overnight flight from the United States. Enjoy a private transfer to your Hotel. Edinburgh’s magnificent architecture shifts from the lofty tenements of its medieval Old Town to the grace and geometric precision of the Georgian New Town. Settle into your new surroundings and enjoy a leisurely walk through this vibrant city. Take time to stroll down the Royal Mile, a street lined with shops, pubs and restaurants. Stay 2-nights at your centrally located hotel. (B)

Oct 03: Explore the city, including Edinburgh Castle!

After breakfast, meet your guide and visit Edinburgh Castle and see the Scottish Crown Jewels and the Palace of Holyroodhouse. Founded as a monastery in 1128, the Palace of Holyrood House in Edinburgh is The Queen’s official residence in Scotland. Situated at the end of the Royal Mile, the Palace of Holyrood House is closely associated with Scotland’s turbulent past, including Mary, Queen of Scots, who lived here between 1561 and 1567. This evening you will enjoy the ‘Spirit of Scotland Show’ at Jam House, which includes dinner, dancing performace, and Scottish music. (B,D)

Oct 04: Drive north to Inverness for a 2-night stay.

Depart Edinburgh and drive north to Inverness. Visit Perth and the Palace of Scone, Pitlochry and Blair Castle, Loch Garten and Cairngorm Mountain. Many of the Scottish kings were crowned on the Stone of Destiny at Scone Palace, while there are many famous historical figures who left their mark on this royal burgh. Today, Perth is a bustling city of around 50,000 inhabitants. It offers a range of entertainment, shops, cafés and restaurants and is recognized as one of Scotland’s premier culinary centers. Stay 2-nights at your centrally located hotel. Group dinner this evening in Inverness. (B,D)

Oct 05: Tour Culloden Battlefield, Brodie Castle, and more.

Tour the surrounding area including the Culloden Battlefield site, Clava Cairns, Cawdor and Brodie Castles and the Dallas Dhu Distillery. The course of British, European and world history was changed at Culloden on 16 April 1746. It was here that the Jacobite army fought to reclaim the throne of Britain from the Hanoverians for a Stuart king. The British army was equally determined to stop this happening. The ferocious European war had come to Scotland – dividing families and setting clan against clan. (B)

Oct 06: Discover Loch Ness, and more. Stay 2-nights on the Isle of Skye.

Travel south via Loch Ness, include a visit to Urquhart Castle and see the Five Sisters of Kintail and the romantic Eileen Donan Castle. As one of the most iconic images of Scotland, Eilean Donan is recognized all around the world. Situated on an island at the point where three great sea lochs meet, and surrounded by majestic scenery, it is little wonder that the castle is now one of the most visited and important attractions in the Scottish highlands. Enjoy a 2-night stay at your hotel located in the town of Portree on the Isle of Skye. (B)

Oct 07: Explore the Isle of Skye!

Explore Skye, the world’s favorite island! Recently voted ‘4th Best Island in the World’ by National Geographic magazine. Skye is famous for its rugged Cuillins and Quiraing Mountains. Option to visit the Talisker Whisky Distillery and Dunvegan Castle, and perhaps take a boat trip to explore the abundance of local wildlife; including seals, sea birds, dolphins, whales and more. Oct 08: Tour Fort William, and Stirling Castle. Stay overnight in Stirlingshire.

After a delicious Scottish breakfast, drive south via the Mallaig car ferry and the Glenfinnan Memorial to Bonnie Prince Charlie, to Fort William, dominated by Britain’s highest mountain, Ben Nevis. Fort William is the largest town in the highlands of Scotland and a major tourist center with Glencoe just to the south, and Glenfinnan to the west, on the Road to the Isles. Tour Stirling Castle this afetrnoon. One of Scotland’s grandest castles due to its imposing position and impressive architecture, Stirling Castle commands the countryside for many miles around. Stay overnight in a centrally located hotel in Stirlingshire. (B)

Oct 09: Drive to Edinburgh Airport and prepare to return

After breakfast you will be transferred to Edinburgh Airport to prepare for your return flight on Delta, DL 209 at 1:10 PM, arriving JFK at 4:04 PM (Local Time Same Afternoon)
